Aryna Sabalenka in action
The Belarusian player concluded the year with an impressive 23-3 Grand Slam match record.

The top-ranked player Aryna Sabalenka has been selected the Women's Tennis Association player of the year for a second straight season.

The 27-year-old secured four titles – the highest tally on the circuit – which included successfully defending the US Open in September against Amanda Anisimova to secure her fourth career Grand Slam singles championship.

A Season of Consistency

Over the course of the tour, Sabalenka reached a circuit-leading nine finals, with losses coming to Madison Keys in the Australian Open final in January and Coco Gauff in the French Open final.

The star player also triumphed at the Brisbane International early in the season, the Miami Open during the spring, and the Madrid Open in May. She spent the whole season as the top-ranked player, finishing 2025 on top of the rankings for a second successive year.

This past summer, she achieved the status of being the first player to exceed 12,000 WTA ranking points after Serena Williams in 2015.

Historic Achievements

Sabalenka ended the competitive year with a sixty-three to twelve win-loss record, and collected a record £11m in tournament winnings.

She earned nearly eighty percent of the votes cast by international tennis media.

Later this month, she is set to play 2022 Wimbledon runner-up Nick Kyrgios in a Battle of the Sexes-style exhibition match in a bid to "elevate women's tennis to a higher level".
