Eulogies Flow for Rob and Michele Reiner as Medical Examiner's Findings Face a Security Hold.
Over a fortnight subsequent to the heartbreaking passing of renowned filmmaker Rob Reiner and his partner, photographer Michele Reiner, peers and loved ones continue to honor the duo.
A Heartfelt Farewell: Cary Elwes Remembers His Director
Sharing on Instagram, actor Cary Elwes, who starred in Reiner's 1987 classic *The Princess Bride*, explained he just recently felt able to express about his personal sorrow.
"Sufficient time has gone by that I can at last articulate my loss into words," wrote Elwes, saying that his first meeting with Reiner made him fall in love. "As we began spending more time together I understood this was someone I longed to have in my life."
The actor uploaded never-before-seen clips from the movie, remarking that he could not remember "one day without joy".
"The movie is about affection, allegiance and giving. Principles that Rob held dear. Which is among the many reasons he was the best person to direct it," Elwes continued.
He went on to praise Michele Reiner, saying: "Claiming that they were a great team would be an oversimplification. My heart still aches every time I think of you." He finished with a phrase from *The Princess Bride*: "Sure, death cannot stop true love but living is anguish without you."
Martin Scorsese Recalls a Colleague and Comrade
In a separate tribute, acclaimed director Martin Scorsese paid homage to Reiner, whom he initially encountered in the 1970s.
"Immediately, I loved hanging out with Rob. We had a instant connection for each other. He was hilarious and sometimes bitingly funny, but he was never the kind of guy who would take over the room," Scorsese shared.
Scorsese pointed out Reiner's cameo appearance in his 2013 film *The Wolf of Wall Street*, portraying the father of the protagonist.
"He was skilled at improv with the best. He was a virtuoso at comedy, he worked wonderfully with his co-stars, and he comprehended the human predicament of his character," Scorsese wrote.
Legal Developments: Autopsy Reports Sealed
Recently, a Los Angeles court official agreed to block the release of the Reiners' post-mortem findings, following a petition from the LAPD.
A judicial mandate put a restriction on the investigation to restrict the public release of "any investigative information, documents, files or images" connected to the ongoing investigation.
The Medical Examiner's office had earlier stated their deaths were the result of foul play, with a public database noting the cause as "injuries from a sharp object".
Response and Criticism
Following the killings, public figures expressed divergent responses.
Ex-President Donald Trump wrote on the matter, providing controversial statements that were broadly criticized by several public figures.
Podcaster Joe Rogan lent his criticism to the those speaking out recently. Speaking on his program, Rogan characterized the remarks as "disturbing" and remarked they showed a worrisome deficiency of sympathy.
Rogan ended by remarking that an aide could have acted when the choice to weigh in on the death was made.
