Flight operations have recommenced at Scotland's primary international airport after a major technical issue at the control tower halted all operations.

All incoming and outgoing flights were suspended due to an technical fault that was reported at approximately 08:30.

Some passengers reported being stuck in aircraft on the tarmac while the issue persisted.

Services Recommence with Continued Disruption

The airport confirmed at 10:40 that services were back online, and expressed gratitude to passengers for their "understanding and cooperation".

That said, considerable delays are likely to affect schedules. Flights to key destinations like Amsterdam, Frankfurt, London, and Bristol have been cancelled, with numerous other services subject to postponements.

An airport representative had previously estimated that dozens of flights could be disrupted.

"Travelers are urged to contact their airlines for the latest information on their specific flights," officials reiterated.

Cause of the Chaos

The problem was traced to the widespread suspension to an technical fault with its control tower systems vendor.

Travelers are still being urged to confirm the details of their trip before departing to the airport as backlogs are worked through.
