People have come together across the country to remember 24 months since the Hamas-conducted offensive on that fateful day in October 2023, as talks continued in the neighboring country over an end to the hostilities in the Gaza Strip.

The assault led to over 1,200 people dead and 251 others captured away to Gaza as captives. It was the uniquely most fatal day for the Jewish community since the Second World War.

Israel answered by beginning a military offensive in Gaza which has killed over 67,000 people, as reported by the territory's Hamas-controlled health ministry. Its numbers are regarded as trustworthy by the UN and other international bodies.

"The bloodthirsty enemies have hit us hard, but they have not broken us," the prime minister added on Tuesday.

He also pledged to "accomplish all the goals of the war: the release of all the kidnapped, the elimination of the Hamas regime and the promise that Gaza will never again create a risk to Israel".

Memorial Ceremonies Across Israel

The Israeli government postponed formal commemorations until October 16th - after the completion of the Jewish High Holiday season - but gatherings still occurred throughout the country on Tuesday.

A commemorative event for the relatives of Israeli citizens who lost their lives in the Hamas assault was conducted in the coastal city. Organized by the families themselves, it was televised across Israeli TV networks.

Hours earlier, a minute's silence was held across the country.

Peace Meetings in Egypt

At the same time, Israeli and Hamas representatives gathered in the North African Red Sea resort of the negotiation venue for a follow-up session of mediated discussions to discuss the conditions of the agreement.

A prominent delegate knowledgeable about the talks said that an late session of mediated discussions commenced at 7 PM local time.

The source said the day's discussions ended without significant progress, because of differences over the proposed Israeli pullout plans from Gaza and over safeguards Hamas wants to guarantee Israel does not restart combat after the opening period of the deal.

He commented that the discussions are "difficult and have yet to achieve any major advancement," but mentioned that facilitators are working hard to close the gaps between the both parties.

Critical Points in Negotiations

  • An enduring halt to fighting
  • The trade of the prisoners still kept by Hamas for Palestinian prisoners from Gaza
  • The removal of military personnel from Gaza
  • Arrangements for assistance provision
  • After-conflict governance of the region

Citizen Reaction

In Tel Aviv's Hostages Square earlier, young a woman - whose sibling lived through the incident on the outdoor event, where 378 people were lost their lives and dozens more were captured by Hamas militants - told: "No place appears as home anymore and until all the hostages come back not a single person will feel safe."

"When we see all home again, we can breathe again. Then we can start to recover," she concluded.

Near Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's residence in Jerusalem, people gathered to demonstrate their backing for the relatives of the abducted. Israel reports nearly fifty stay in detention in Gaza, twenty of whom are considered to be alive.

Activist Atalia Regev explained: "We need do any agreement required for the hostages to be released. But we truly desire promises that we will be secure."

Opinion polls now frequently demonstrate that about the majority of Israelis want the war to end in exchange for the liberation of the captives.

Gaza Conditions

At the site of the music event, grieving people gathered to honor the dead.

From the site, the sound of aerial bombardments and shelling could be detected just a few kilometres away in Gaza, where observers said the intense Israeli attacks continued.

In the urban center, attacks were reported in the morning of that day in the western neighborhood, area and locality neighbourhoods and in the eastern neighbourhood of that sector, as well the camp to the northwestern area.

"As the night comes, the anxiety comes with it," relocated Gaza City resident a local woman, whose young son was killed by an Israeli aerial attack last year, described.

"We are afraid of the bombings. All the night we are lying together, clinging, especially my little child who puts his head on me throughout the night."

"Every second we monitor the news to see what happened. And I'm worried that this halt will not be achieved and that the war will come back to us."

Medical Situation

The healthcare center in the urban area said it had received the bodies of six people by the midday, including a trio who died in an Israeli bombing in the southern al-Sabra neighbourhood.

Another medical facility in the south region of the city reported two more fatalities had been delivered. An individual was killed by Israeli forces while seeking help to the south region, health workers stated.

Gaza's health ministry said a significant number of the {territ
