Two Charged Regarding Heathrow ‘Pepper Spray’ Assault
Formal charges have been brought against two men following a luggage theft where a suspected capsaicin spray caused injuries at the UK's busiest airport.
Tyrone Richards, 31, and Anton Clarke-Butcher, 24, have both been charged with two counts of robbery and two counts of deploying a toxic agent, according to official statements.
These accusations come after an investigation into an attack at the multi-storey car park at Heathrow's Terminal Three on the weekend. Prior to the attack, two women were robbed of their luggage stolen after exiting a parking garage elevator, authorities reported.
A young child was one of the people hurt in the event. A total of five individuals went to hospital for treatment and were later discharged.
This event – which authorities stated was not part of a series and not considered a terror-related act – led to disruptions to rail services and the temporary blocking of the Central Terminal Area tunnel and the T3 parking area for a brief period.
